Hi,

is there a big difference in the drivability of the new 1.6 ( 105 bhp) and the 2.0 ( 140 bhp). Because there is a new model coming soon the latest model has alot of bells and whistles but there is a 3 month waiting list for the 2 litre, I just think the smaller engine will be a bit underpowered considering the overall size of the car.

Any thoughts

Back in 2002 I had a 1.6 Passat company car for 8 months and it was awful! Wouldn't recommend it! Skin, pudding, rice, pull, wouldn't, off, the, a....etc.

Drove the behind out of it until I left the company in question and bought a 1.9tdi Golf which was outstanding.

Yes your right big difference between 2.0 and 1.9 diesel models. I would stay clear of both vw's overall build quality seems to have slipped a lot

Apples and oranges then - there is no way to make a comparison between the old 1.6 petrol and the new 1.6 diesel.

There will definitely be a big difference in power. And there will be a better residual on the 2.0, I would think as well.
