Not sure if this has ever been mentioned before but I just discovered it today.
If you ever need to send an SMS to an email address via Vodafone then you can format the SMS as follows
and send it to Vodafone’s Info Service number 51745 and it will be routed to the specified email address marked as coming from <yournumber>@vodafone.ie.
This costs €0.15 on RTG even if you have pre-purchased blocks of cheaper text messages and even though the normal SMS charge is €0.13. I don't know what the charges are on monthly contract tariffs. Still could be handy in odd situations.
