Visit Planning Office or Research Online

Hi All,

I'm looking at buying a house and my solicitor has recommended that I visit the local planning office to see if there are any developments planned for the area that may impact us living in the area, which makes sense.

However, I have seen that the county council's planning system is online and you can browse the applications and decisions online.

Would just searching online be sufficient or would there be any additional benefit in going to the planning office in person?

Thanks,
Stefg

Im not a planning expert, just have experience in my own capacity of using both when proccesing a planning issue personally.
I think you are best to visit. Not all documents are scanned and online.
Also they are rarely up to date.
Go visit, ask for file and sit down and look .

Thanks for that runner. I think you are right, I will drop in and look.

I went to the office in the end... definitely worth doing, they said the online system is more or less the same as what is in the office but they did say that council works like roads etc are not on the system. They sent me to the roads/transport department who showed me all the planned works in the area. It was a very worthwhile exercise.
