It seems that Vincent Browne is selling his house in the heartland of smoked salmon socialism; Dalkey. He's only looking for €3'500'000. Maybe he's trying to offload it before Labour gets into power and increase taxes or maybe he thinks they are going to introduce the national maximum wage idea that he keeps talking about and he won't be able to sell it.

Anyway, best of luck to him; I love to see people doing well and getting a good financial reward for their hard work, intelligence and ability. I used to think he had a problem with it but judging from where he lives I was wrong.
 
He was on radio this week, owes approx 1.5 mil, and has no pension. I also felt sorry for him, he clearly does not want to sell the house.
 
He also earns circa €200,000 ( as admitted by VB in an Itish Times article some time ago- can't find it) so I don't feel too sorry for him.

I still feel sorry for him, even Gay Byrne who through investing in Anglo has lost most of his pension.

200K is alot to me, but the fact that he is selling family home due to debt is a sad thing for anyone...
 
Vincent has also lost other peoples' money. Any of his schemes would not be for widows and orphans unless they had shares in a Beta-blocker Co.

So people on high income who invest their money to start a business that provides employment are not worthy of sympathy if it all goes wrong... If he earned less would you feel sorry for him?
200k is a lot of money but if he’d stayed working as a barrister he’d be earning far more. I don’t agree with his views and I find him opinionated, condescending and infuriating but I do admire the fact that he, like many of the leftwing elite, has the courage of his moral convictions.

I'm sure he's a little embarrased by the article.
He also states at the end:
"I think I'm in a very privileged position vis-a-vis people who have lost their jobs and are in negative equity. If I struggle with a pension, it is pretty small fry compared to what people are going through."

Thats is very like Vincent Browne. I didn't see any suggestion that he was looking for sympathy. He's selling his house and the IT offered a bit of free publicity ( They must be really struggling to fill the property section every week).

He also knew that it was a good idea to get the correct story about his debts in the media before the media invented a story about it.
 
IT article had lots of rubbish and contradiction - like "we may not sell for a few years" so why is it on the market?
in any case 3.5m looks very expensive relative to other trophy houses

I don't watch Vincent Brown but is he Karl Marx on drugs ?

Surely no-one is advocating a MAXIMUM wage limit ???:eek:
 
Hard to beat the view from the back garden all right. Otherwise, I would have thought 3.5 mil was a bit excessive, In fact really I still do, its not Marbella afterall where you would actually get regular use of the sea!!
I like Vinnie though, hope all works out for him and his family.

Yep, He’s floated the idea a number of times on his late night socialist propaganda show where he and most of his guests gang up on the one non-socialist on the panel.
 
He lost money trying to keep Magill going as well. If there was a market for the drivel he publishes he wouldn't be losing money. Why can't he see that ? Ego problem. He is quick enough to criticiise others who have made bad decisions.
There's no fear of him. His pals in the mdia will always ensure that he can pick up a cheque somewhere for talking rubbish and his general negative contributions

I wouldn't go that far, Magill exposed far more corruption than the rest of the so-called Fourth Estate. Even in its revamped format it uncovered even more. I think Browne's failing was to overlook the demise of print media and serious magazines (though they would boom online).

Browne likes to provoke, I wouldn't confuse too much his fuelling debates with his actual politics. And whether or not you agree with his agenda, he has contributed to and uncovered more corruption than most of his pals.
