I am going to view a house. What are the key questions that I should ask?
 
other than the obvious specific to the house itself,contents, state of repair, neighbours, schools and facilities.

I'd be asking about traffic / access and local crime issues.
 
If you do not have a solicitor, get one now. When done, ask them.
 
Its worth asking about the Vendor's situation, are they looking for a quick sale? are they in a chain? is the house in Probate?
Also how long has the house been on the market? and what similar houses in the area have gone for?

Could be an idea to seek this information from a neutral source (like Brodiebabe or other AAM posters) rather than a seller with a vested interest in your decision.

If you want to know what questions you should consider regards the house itself you could do worse than looking through the archive of threads here on AAM. If someone has encountered an issue with something in the past there's always the possibility that you could run into a similiar problem.
 
Know what the standard questions are. Was told the other day couldn't ask the question of what the area was like. Just wondering what everyone elses view was.
No sarcastic comments please you are only wasting your time.

Questions that pertain to the area, Blanchardstown, M3 road works etc. Only trying to help out and clear up any confusion. Not being a troll.

1. Age of the property.

2. Construction, cavity blockwork, timber frame.

3. Type of central heating, Gas, Oil, etc.

4. Is it double glazed are the units original or replacement.

5. If the property is older has it been rewired?

6. Is the loft insulated, is there cavity wall insulation?

7. Have any major alterations been undertaken to the building?

8. Ask if any guarantees or warranties relating to the services are current.

9. Look for cracks, check for flat roofs, ask if flooding has been a problem.

10. Check the condition of boundary fences.
