Hi folks

I have the deadline looming of my VHI - currently on plan PMI 0610 - 1,513 a year is the renewal cost
The Beacon is my local hospital and is nearest to the house
Female aged 51 - non smoker, non drinker, no dangerous sports and my health is reasonably good with the exception of under active thyroid which is an annual visit to endocrinologist - but 3 weeks ago was admitted for 8 days with pneumonia
Had a grand mal seizure 2 years ago - but all tests showed negative to epilepsy - and was brought on after my mam passed suddenly and not sleeping

I am just curious to see if there are any better plans out there - one of the main reasons i moved to this plan was because the outpatient costs is where i spend the most - and the old plan limited me to 1000 Euro in a year

Had not seen that policy PMI0610 with VHI mentioned before on AAM but it does appear to be good value for money especially the G.P. -
75% x unlimited visits.

I'm not familiar with Laya policies as I've been with VHI forever. If you look at this comparison you will see that the PMI2410 policy is approx. €1,800 as compared with your €1,500 and your cover is very good considering the €300 less in premium.

Dermot Goode of www.totalhealthcover.ie mentioned some time back that approx €1,500 should provide a good policy in light of the fact that there have been a few price increases this year.

A new company called Level Health appear to be coming soon so might be up and running before your renewal but whether you want to be a guinea pig is another matter as I always prefer to let others try these things out first and I wait to see what their reviews are like :)
 
Thanks so much for this - ironically this policy was recommended to me about 3 years ago by this page. So i will stick with it - thanks again
