Health Insurance VHI Cancer Meds Different?

Hi All

A friend of mine’s wife is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment (chemo) in St James. All going well thankfully. My friend maintains that the medication she is receiving (in St James) is state of the art and only available on VHI i.e Laya/ILH/Public can’t get it at the moment.

This sounds incorrect but I don’t want to challenge given the circumstances. I’m just wondering if this has any basis in fact?
