VGA camera phone

Am I correct in saying that VGA phones are basically very low resolution camera....circa 0.3 megapixels??? Does this mean that they are essentially rubbish?
 
Depends on what you're looking for. Might be ok for the occasional quick snap but cameras built into phones don't pack the same punch as a dedicated camera.

To clarify, VGA is fine for sending pictures via MMS (multimedia messages) or for uploading a small picture to a weblog or something.

But 0.3 megapixels is simply crap for printing photos.

So, a VGA camera phone is essentially crap as a camera.
