Very creaky floorboards

Can you not simply raise the carpet & screw the chipboard floor covering to the underlying joists?

Had the same problem myself.
Before I put the carpet down I nailed all the lose ones which more or less sorted. One of the rooms was very bad so i lifted all the boards down and put new ones down .. nailing them all to the exsisting joices...
Lift the carpet and just put it back down again.. it should be ok

I have the same problem with timber floorboards and the little research I have done would suggest that the problem is not that easy to solve (try looking at some of the DIY sites).

I screwed an extra 30 odd long screwnails to improve the fixing of the boards to the joists and no real improvement. Thinking of doing another 30 more.

The problem could be in the span of the joist as well and the need for strutting in between the joist to strengthen the floor structure - this is the part that can be expensive.

Hope the nail solution though works for you.
