Hi,

Last year from august to october I put in a social welfare claim for unemployment however I stopped claiming as I started working in a job
where I was to self assess my own tax's. I only worked at this role for about 1.5 months before running a mile from it as I was paid per job I did and there was not enough work available for me. I was earning about 280 per week full time(unreal). I said feck this and went back to collage to get a new qualification to compliment my existing I.T qualification.

Anyways the problem is that now I have finished collage as of last week and I am planning to go back to the social welfare and claim again until I get a more promising position in the I.T industry, My ex employer did not need my P45 because of me having to do my own tax's therefore I dont have an up to date one to hand in to proceed with my social welfare claim? What on earth do I do here? Do I just say you already have my P45 from last year when I claimed or am I suppose to get somthing else in order to claim?

Obviously I am not due to hand in my earnings until october so as regards to prsi payments what happens here? The social welfare office here are not going to have any records of me working at all at the job I was doing, I will be providing payslips as proof of working on the day I go up to these people. Any advice would be great here..

Kind Regards

Go to the nearest SW office to claim Jobseekers Benefit. You will probably need to explain that you have been in College up to now. If you have any proof from the college you attended this should explain the gap in your PRSI contributions. Bring this with you together with the usual documents, I.D and proof of address.
Your Jobseekers Benefit will be based on your contributions in 2006 and the other conditions, available for work & actively seeking work

What about my lack of P45? Surely they will ask this again

Your P45 is irrelevant to this claim as you are not claiming immediately after working in that job.
