venting a tumble dryer

I need to know how far I can position a venting tumble dryer away from an outside wall.

I am creating a utility room. It will be an inside room but it is next to a bathroom with a suspended cealing and it would be quite easy to run a ventilation duct over the cealing. If the duct has no fan to draw air will the tumble dryer be able to operate efficiently with the hot air having to be driven about 3m to the outside wall?

Does anyone have experience of this?

Have you considered a condenser dryer, or is this a utility for a conventional dryer you already own?

Venting won't be as efficient through a long duct run, though it may still be more efficient than a condensing dryer. You may also experience issues with condensation in the ducting.
