Velux Window Ventilation Bar Problem

The foam seal on the inside of the ventilation bar on one of my Velux windows has started to come apart, as if it's perished. Will this prevent the window being draught proof? Can this strip be replaced?

Lex, you should be able to replace this with the sticky backed foam strips available from most hardware stores. Normally used on doors and windows to draught strip those items.

Thanks Sconhome. I was thinking along those lines. It doesn't need replacing yet but it's definitely terminal!

Thanks for the advice.

It might be worth asking Velux if they sell these seals as i was able to get spares for my blinds when they broke and fixed them ourselves. I would imagine that it would be better to have the manufacturers seal as opposed to one bought in a diy shop as the onew retrofitted don't work for very long on windows or doors.

That makes sense also, NHG. I'll give them a buzz on Monday. Thanks.
