VAT Threshold for mixed income

Hi, I supply both services and goods, 50:50 split. Is my vat threshold still 40k?
Also, teaching private music classes to adults - I am correct thinking this also is liable to vat?

I would say yes, the lower threshold. And yes to the classes having VAT on them.
