Hi,
I have been in business as a sole trader since Feb 08 and have registered for vat & have been charging vat on my invoices. But I now hear that if your projected earnings are less than €37,500 (which mine will be) I don't have to charge & pay vat.
Does anyone know if I can claim this back or what the procedure is?

You are not entitled to a refund of the VAT charged to date. After all this is not your money, but your customers'. All things being equal, you should be entitled to deregister if your turnover is likely to remain under the limit for the next 12 months but by the sound of it, you probably need professional advice in order to familiarise yourself with all the relevant issues.
