VAT Refund from South Africa

Applied for a VAT refund when leaving South Africa on the 17th November 2007. Am still waiting for refund to hit my credit card.

Can anyone advise if they have tried to claim the refund before and how long it took to receive payment?

I have sent an e-mail to the address provided on the VAT Refund leaflet, however I have not received a reply.

VAT refund from South Africa takes ages. We claimed and it took about 18 months. Did you use an accountant there to deal with any queries?

I applied for a VAT refund on 14th December 2007 and it was credited to my credit card in the last couple of days. Wasn't a huge sum of money though- just less than 200 euro. Applied from Johannesburg Airport.
