VAT payments now every 6 months instead of bi-monthly?

I heard recently that you can now pay your VAT payments every 6 months instead of bi-monthly if you want.

Firstly - is this correct?

If so then must you register for this or do you just submit it as normal 6 months time?

too many small companies will think this is a life-line yet it will kill them

some will benefit from some interest in a bank account. silly idea

I agree with meat monger - it is better to file bi monthly and just deal with the paperwork then. Am an accountant and was on a 6 monthly system for first year - pain in the behind really as you think you'll sort it but you don't and invoices etc will go missing on you
