D delgirl Registered User Messages 1,322 18 Apr 2005 #1 I am not registered for VAT and am planning to import some goods from the UK for resale here. The UK supplier says I have to pay UK VAT - is this correct for exports from UK to Ireland? The only information I could find on the revenue.ie site was: "VAT on imports was abolished for trade with other EU Member States with effect from 1/1/93, when theSingle Market System was introduced. However, for goods imported from outside the EU, VAT at point of entry still exists." Does anyone have any experience with imports from the UK? Thanks.

If you are not registered for VAT then you will not be covered by the legislation you quoted They only way you could avoid paying UK Vat is if you were going to charge Vat when selling them here, i.e. registering Apologies for the bad news stuart@buyingtolet.ie
