VAT No

Good Afternoon,

Any advice would be appreciated. I have operated as a sole trader under a business name for the last 5 years in a sector which was exempt from V.A.T.

Due to ill health I am now looking to operate in a different sector(s) which is subject to VAT for imports/sales etc under 2 different business names.

The question is can I be issued with one VAT number for my name or do each of the business names require a seperate VAT number.

All help greatly appreciated.

As a sole trader you get one VAT number ( usually tied to your PPS number ) and that covers any businesses under which you operate. You do not get a separate number per business name. You can add the VAT registration to your existing tax registration using form [broken link removed]
