Vapes to be taxed at €1.20

Should be a hell of a lot higher, on health and environmental grounds.

Are you saying there's nothing to say that nicotine is a harmless substance, and that the production of battery powered devices (possibly disposable ones) is a positive thing?

Yes - nictotine in itself has similar biological effects as caffine. Temporary retriction of blood flow in capillaries but no effect on lungs etc. Its just a stimulant. Disposable vapes are wasteful for the enviroment but most regular vapers dont smoke disposable vapes but are still faced with a 500% tax/price increase. Nanny illinformed state at play here. Vote them out !!!

It's quite easy to find articles on Google Scholar about the harms caused by nicotine.

Nicotine poses several health hazards. There is an increased risk of cardiovascular,
respiratory, gastrointestinal disorders. There is decreased immune response and it also
poses ill impacts on the reproductive health. It affects the cell proliferation, oxidative
stress, apoptosis, DNA mutation by various mechanisms which leads to cancer. It also
affects the tumor proliferation and metastasis and causes resistance to chemo and radio
therapeutic agents.

Chat GPT says:
Nicotine itself is not classified as a carcinogen, meaning it doesn't directly cause cancer. However, it is a major component of tobacco, which contains numerous carcinogenic substances. Smoking tobacco is strongly linked to various cancers, particularly lung cancer, but also cancers of the mouth, throat, esophagus, pancreas, bladder, and more.
Moreover, nicotine can promote the growth of tumors and may affect cancer progression in those who already have cancer. Therefore, while nicotine isn't a direct cause of cancer, its role in tobacco use contributes significantly to cancer risk. Quitting smoking and using tobacco products greatly reduces the risk of developing cancer.

Anyway, you shouldn't trust a large language model that spits out any old crap that's been put into it. Pierre Marie Gallois had it right

Is he the French cigarette guy?
Isn't every French guy a French cigarette guy?
If you put tomfoolery into a computer, nothing comes out of it but tomfoolery. But this tomfoolery, having passed through a very expensive machine, is somehow enobled and no-one dares criticize it.

The govt was caught sleeping on these - legislation needs to be passed so that all laws regarding smoking automatically applies to vapes/e cigs.
Including an equivalent tax and designation of them as excisable products. So many people think its fine to vape in a pub - I don't want to inhale the ball of smog that goes through their users' lung system and back into circulation for me to breathe.
