Motor Van insurance Canadian license

Moved back to Ireland at a bad time and having problems getting a van insured.

Have been told my drivers bonus is inapplicable as it has been two years since last insured in Canada. On provisional here.

I am 36 years old and driving since 16 with not so much as a speeding ticket but now being insured as a driver with no history which I CANNOT afford.

Question is

If I put a van in my wifes name (She is full Irish with no claims etc), can I get open insurance put on it, or is open insurance not available for commercial vans.

or

If anyone has any advice on how I can avoid paying 2000 for a 1999 crappy van........please advise!!!!
