I would like to know what the value of my engagement ring is. And how many carat it is. Is there somewhere I can bring my ring in Dublin to have it valued. Also I would like to sell it once I know what is worth. Where is the best place to sell it. thanks

Most jewellers would give the purchaser a certificate detailing carat and value. Is it possible to ask this off him?

Alternatively you could go to the jewellers where it was purchased and get them to value it and tell you (without saying you are selling or they will drop value) what its worth.

I'd imagine its a very heart-wreching thing to do so i wish you luck.

Just to warn you that the value of the ring for insurance purposes (ie potential replacement) and the actual re-sale value of an engagement ring are HUGELY different.

Engagement rings are very sentimental and valued as such for the initial purchase. Unless it's an antique, it's not likely to be worth as much as was paid for it, especially if it's a number of small stones rather than a solitaire.

This is quite true, and is a reason why some in this situation "lose" their ring as opposed to selling it.
