Ben Bernanke the man who replaced Alan Greenspan as the head of the US Federal Reserve earns about €144k per year in what is one of the most challenging Economic/Finance roles in the world. Pat Neary ‘retired’ as Irish Financial Regulator after numerous embarrassing episodes at the Regulator during his tenure most notably where he claims not to have known about Fitzpatricks 127 million worth of Director’s loans from Anglo….Pat Neary’s pension is €142k per year….

I agree. We do not dererve our independence when we run our country like this. The rot starts from the top down - Cowen alone ( never mind McAleese ) is paid more than Obama or the Presidents of France, Germany etc. We are borrowing 23 billion per year and having to go across the border to buy groceries ( with our borrowed money ) at a fair price, like refugees. Thats ok while it lasts. We are the laughing stock of the world.

I blame the so called free press/, this is an area where the truth has to be told over and over again. The way people in government have sugar coated their own pockets is a disgrace. If all those pensions that are currently paid with salaries were stopped immediately there would be a lot of money spare that is badly needed.

A pensiion is when you retire from your current job . ah heck whats the use.

As for the HSE, say we pay a person/consultant 280k a year and he/she cant spot that their working area is unclean.

Its depressing but we will pay for it now big time.
