Are you sure that they don't mean a valuation survey by a surveyor rather than an estate agent? Normally the lender will get this done themselves and charge the borrower (although many will waive this charge) unless the buyer is getting a detailed structural survey done and the surveyor will also provide a valuation for the lender. A valuation survey normally costs about €100. If you are buying a second hand property they you should probably get a detailed structural survey done.
