UTV splitting movies

Watching 'The Bourne Supremacy' tonight there was a half-hour break in the middle for the news. I know UTV have been doing this for years but for God's sake, in this day and age could they not manage to schedule things so that you can watch a movie straight through to the end.

i think that the communications/broadcasting regulator requires a certain amount of news and current affairs programming. as far as i know they have to have the news on at a cetain time and this obviously straddles peak viewing time. if i remember correctly UTV did try to shift the time of the news a few years ago but were prevented from doing so.
 
why don't you tape them? i loathe adverts so always tape movies and watch at leisure - nothing worse than a chilling atmosphere being ruined by the scream of malteasers....
