Using UK travel company?

This might be the most stupid question ever but just checking, presumably there is nothing stopping one from booking a holiday through a UK travel company and flying to the UK to get the flights to the destination?

The trip im looking at looks like it would work out €500 cheaper this way, to book it with an Irish travel company I would still have to go via the UK but its far more expensive.

Not a problem. I have done it myself. Just make sure you leave plenty of time for transfers especially on the way out as you don't want to miss out.
Plenty of flights to Ire from London if delayed on way back or you could spend a few days in london on your way back with the savings.

No probs at all.....I use expedia.co.uk a lot and and save a packet...suite in the Bellagio for the cost of a night in a travelodge....echo niceoneted and leave plenty of transfer time.
