Where is a good place (online or shop) to buy a USB memory device drive ?

not sure if it is a memory stick or a large volume device you are looking for but either way ive used [broken link removed] and www.shop4memory.com / to order stuff in the past and they are prettry good.

Thanks to RD I got my free USB storage stick from my TAB points which were being discontinued some months back. Recently I have used shop for memory, fast , reliable and competitive!

Re: Off on a tangent ...

Got a mail from one of the irish distis today - they are offering 160GB external USB / firewire diskdrives @ sub 150

Does not seem bad to me .... but then 160GB is probably nothing these days ?

Re: Off on a tangent ...

Aldi were doing 250GB internal hard drives for €130 today in case that's of any use and there are any left. Another few bob might buy an external USB housing for the drive elsewhere if required.

Check out Maplin Electronics in Jervis St.. I got an Integral 512 Mb there for 49 euro just after Christmas (probably a special price). And pixmania.com has a Lexar 128 Mb for 12.40 euro.

Jus before Christmas I picked up a 1GB USB Key from Peats for €120. Enormously handy.

I bought a 512MB USB flash memory key drive from www.7dayshop.com in November for about 50 Euro plus 10 Euro delivery. The delivery covers 3 items, so I added a multi-format card reader (SD/MMC/Memory stick etc.) for 15 Euro.

Took about 7 days to deliver, mind you... :(

[broken link removed] or delivery slightly more quickly.

7dayshop now have a 1GB one for £56 Sterling, comes it at under around 80 Euro including delivery.

Hmmmmm... see here ...the iPod shuffle can also be used as a USB memory stick...

These things can be picked up extraordinarily cheaply on [broken link removed], if you have a bit of patience. [broken link removed] one currently going for £0.99 (with 5 hours to go...). Postage will probably be £5 or £6...

Otherwise, www.shop4memory.com have a range of them, starting from €31 + p&p...

While on the subject, any views on external hard drives rather than backing up to CD, Floppy etc? Is it just a case of plug and play via USB? How much shoud I be prepared to pay for a 160GB external HDD?

Thanks,

GG

Hypothetically, hard drives would be a more durable solution than CD-R/DVD-+R media. If it sits in a glass box...

"Supposably..."

Lidl/Aldi were knocking out 250GB thingies for about €150 or €160 not so long ago (?)

Looks impressive fatherdougalmaguire but it would be way in excess of what I need - a back-up facility. A 160GB external hard drive is about £80 on Ebay.

I know. Next Christmas maybe.

How about an external HD with a chassis. An [broken link removed] for €45 and a [broken link removed] of your choosing.
