I am EU citizen living and working in Ireland.I have some shares in US company and withholding tax is taken at source before I get my dividend. Can I claim this back and if so---how do I do this? How Many years back can I claim for? Thanks
You generally offset any foreign witholding tax paid against the Irish tax payable on such dividends, so if you've forgotten to do this on past tax returns, you could submit revised returns for the years in question. Not sure, but I think you can go back a maximum of six years.
