Upstairs Laundry Room - Tanking

Hi All

Am putting a laundry room upstairs in our new build. This is obviously where the washing machine will be located. Now someone has raised the question of a leaking washing maching and the potential damage this would cause. Thinking of getting someone to do a DIY tanking job, covering the floor and 4 inches up the wall with a drain in the middle of the floor and a slight slope on the floor coming into the room. Anyone else done this or any thoughts on it.

havent done it but we considered an upstairs laundry room and another problem that was mentioned was the vibrations from the machine could damage the ceiling below. just something to consider.

We've a hollow core first floor so hoping vibrations won't be an issue.

Another option might be to create a tray just where the washing machine is to go and place a drain at the bottom of that. Should cut the costs considerably.
