I received a parcel from US, it was delivered by UPS, they delivered to a colleague who signed and they left.
1 month later I received a letter staing I owed 58 euro, and a late payment fee of 5 euro ... , I received no invoice of charges, or on delivery there were further charges needed.
I have no issue paying customs etc .., but the late handling charge is a bit rich , as I was never informed of charges in the first place....

Basically UPA paid Customs and Excise and VAT on the item coming in (4 t-shirts). I got the bill at least 3 months after the t-shirts had arrived though. I went to the then equivalent of what is now the National Consumers Agency who referred me to some European equivalent who are on O'Connell Street in Dublin. They kicked up a fuss saying that I never asked the charges to be paid on my behalf as well as the fact that the company I bought the t-shirts off never stated that I may be liable for further charges, and the whole thing dragged on for about a year (though it didn't cost me anything).
In the end I ignored the bill and they never came looking for it. However, I had a pal who ignored the bill as well and they came after him.
I had them collect and deliver a package from one address in the republic of ireland to another address in the republic of ireland
next day the "collection request number" showed the parcel was never collected, so I organised another courier
three months later they charged my credit card, I sent them an email via their online contact form, and a woman in their dublin office rang me but was unable to talk to look up the transatcion unless I could provide a "tracking number"
I sent them a letter asking for a refund, to some industrial estate in dublin, and got no reply, eventually I had to get my money back by asking my credit card company to perform a chargeback
