Unsubscribe link

Some websites that I've previously bought stuff off have sent me regular emails which I now wish to unsubscribe to. However if I hover over their unsubscribe link I see that instead of saying let's say u.tv it says something like mxmfb.com. Is this bogus? Will I just get more spam if I click on it?

Depends. The company in question could have outsourced their mailing list management to an external company such as, in this case, mxmfb.com (owned by Maxemai.com as far as I know). But it depends on the details of each specific situation.

If the companies are legit then the unsubscribe requests will be valid and should be respected.

We use a 3rd party to handle ours, as they give us plenty of extra tools (http://www.infacta.com)
