Is it a prerequisite for AA Roadwatch traffic reporters that they should be unable to speak English properly? I heard a traffic report on the radio last week and it contained statements something like the following...........

Traffic heading ite of tyne is heavy.

The sitebind lane of the M50 is moving well.

In Kinety Lide, a lorry has blocked access to the rindabite heading into Drogheda.

Gardaí dite if the road will be cleared before 9 o' clock.

Kinecil workers are ite gritting the road.

Drivers shouldn't drive withite having their lights switched on.

Thankfully, she didn't have to make an annincement with the word 'shout' in it! ;)

If these ladies went river fishing, might they catch a trite?

For dinner would they eat Brussels sprites?

Would a husband be a spice?

Is it ever clidey when they go on holidays?

In the pub, would they ever drink a pint of stite?

Do they live in nice hizes?

Are the pride of the way they speak?

Would they ever wear a shirt instead of a blize?

Who really wears the trysers in their home?

Do they keep their feet firmly on the grind?

Should they be allide to speak on radio, at all?

Sorry, do you mean they were speaking norn-irish? Cos that's what I can make out.

Generally I reckon they have the Lorraine Keane accent, roish ?

No, not Norn Irish, but as you said, Lorraine Keanish.

Sounds like Norn Irish in print but not an AA Roadwatch reports, I assure you.

One of my pet hates.

For weird pronunciations (collagen or botox induced?) by a few ditzy birds on the wireless that areso "Unspeakably annoying!!!", you have a lot to say. Is this a record?

Letting off a little steam is much cheaper than therapy. ;)
