Hi
My sister bought a house with her now ex boyfriend (50/50). It's was bought at the the height. So, it's now in negative equity. I suppose down 40%. She eventually threw him out after finding he's been cheating for months. He moved into the house with the other girl. From what I know, he's no job and money. He's been paying his portion of the mortgage. My sister has 2 people living in the house, so it's helping and reducing the amount both have to pay in mortgage repayments.
They are on a tracker with their bank. She did ask them if she could buy the out but they refused. In an ideal world, it would be perfect if she could sell and take half the mortgage and buy something smaller. She's have to accept the loss. Both would be happy with this.
He's now given him her an ultimatum. Either allow him and his girlfriend (the one who he was cheating with) to move back into the house or he'll stop paying his part of the mortgage. What an idiot!!!! He's completely clueless!!!!! He's even asked me to buy him out. Luckily, I don't own a property but I don't want to but him out.
My sister is obviously distraught with this.
He's not Irish and the sister feels that he could just leave Ireland and head back home or to another country. The bank did advise that they can still go after him if he did.
She'd been to the citizens advise bureau and solicitors when they broke up.
Has anyone any advise.
Michael
