unmarried couple taxation

hiya all, my first post here, basically my mother and her partner have recently moved in to gether, which means that she no longer recieves her disabilty allowances from social welfare as they are treating them like a married couple which seemingly is the norm, can he claim any tax allowances for her even though they are not married?

Common Law Couple , same as married couple for PAYE credits

Unfortunately Welfare treat cohabiting couples as married couples in certain situations while Revenue do not. I think that there was a thread here in the past on this very subject.
