universal account number

Hi,

I just got connected with eircom and they gave me an account number 5*******, I want to switch to a different provider and they are looking for my universal account number.

Are these he same thing?

why not ask the new provider if they will accept this eircom number ?

When I switched back to Eircom from another company I needed my UAN - this was different to my account number with company and different to my new one with Eircom. I found it on the top corner of my bill
