My wife has just been told that she is to be made redundant from her job as a merchaniser. She has worked for the company for 5 years and currently works 21 hours a week. She has been told that another person who currently works 3 hours a week (ordering food) and has 20 years service with the company is being given her hours. This person has not worked as a merchandiser for many years but she is being retained.
My understanding is that the job is redundandant not the person. Does my wife have a case for unfair selection?
