I work in a small company and in 2009 we were all asked to take a 5% pay cut in light of the current climate, we where advised that this would be reinstated once business improved. 2 years on and we have been told that this is not an option. It has come to my attention that the manager has been given a pay rise this year and last year. Surely this is not legal, any advise welcome. What should we do?
Their is absolutley nothing you can do. What they did is perfectly legal if you signed the contract to agree to a 5% pay cut. I don't think this would go anywhere if you brought this to the courts.
All you can do is let management know your concerns, but it might not get you anywhere.
5% Pay-Cut while the rest of the country suffered about 20% reduction in wages. I'd keep the job, lay low, and be very quiet and hope the manager got another rise.
