Not sure if this is the right place to post but hope that someone can help

I am unemployed for quite a while now and was fortunate enough to get a days work doing Poll Clerk for the recent election.

I just got my pay check today and in the list of deductions is a pension related deduction.

Why do I need to pay this? Can I claim it back its for around €60 which is a lot of money.

I know I can claim back the tax but what about this pension deduction.

Hi Mary

Several posts on this in the pensions forum.

PRD is a contribution that all public sector employee's regardless of being permanent or temp must pay towards the costs of providing pension in the public sector however this contributions does not imply pension benefits i.e. just another form of tax for public sector employee's

So you wont be able to claim this contribution back
