Underfloor Insulation

Hi Folks,

I am soon to be reflooring my hall probably with semi solid or laminate. I want to improve the insulation here. The gable wall has been dry lined and the front door is good too. But I am sure there is more we can do.

I have the opportunity to lift floor boards and am hopeful there are measures I can take to make the hall space warmer and to stay warmer.

Would it be worthwhile insulating the 2 foot of space under the floor boards? or just when reflooring we could lay extra insulation on top of the boards. Any suggestion on a approach including products would be a great help.

Thanks,
Majj

Its not that difficult as the joists should be sitting on wallplates on blocks in a few different compartments . So if you get someone to insulate between the floor joists with rolls of fiber insulation .I did this with 8 inch fiber insulation and its great and you need to staple some type of string or tape to the joists after so that it stays right next to your floor and not fall down when it settles.

Hi Timoney,

Sounds good. I'll give it a whirl in the near future.

Thanks,
majj
