Unauthorised withdrawals from bank account

Hi, I recently noticed that money was being taken from my bank account by my broadband provider, the problem with this is that I was unhappy with the service they provided and was changing to a different provider as my contract with them had expired, so a so called supervisor said that I could have free broadband for a period (as a good-will gesture) untill I was again contacted by them to see if things had improved.

When I rang them about the withdrawals they said nobody told me I could have the broadband free and that they were entitled to use my laser card details because I never told them they couldn't use them. Also I never recieved any invoice or emails from them to the email account we had previously had all our correspondance through, they said I would have been invoiced to the email account they provided, even tho I couldn't access this account because of a fault on their behalf .

Unfortunatley i've deleted the emails from my inbox.

When I originally signed up I gave them my Laser Card details because I was paying for one year up front instead of monthly or quarterly.
Does anybody know if money can be taken from your bank account using your Laser Card details which they kept on file?

Thanks and really sorry for such a long post, just wanted to make sure everything was explained

You need to talk to your bank and find out what's covered. Your situation is strange in that it's not a direct debit or a credit card and there seems to be a grey area when it comes to Laser cards.

Did you give your Laser details over the phone or fill in a form or submit online?

I'd suggest that you contact the financial regulators office to seek advice on this matter.
