Unable to capture video using nero 7

I bought Nero 7 for the purpose of burning home movies from my panasonic minidv camcorder . When I open up Nero Vision to capture video from camcorder, I am told that the device is not set up correctly. I tried to do the same with MotionDV studio and was successful in capturing video. Does anyone know why I can't do same with Nero 7?

I have realised that what I need is a Firewire which was not supplied when I bought the Panasonic minidv camcorder. I have an Dell inspiron 6000 laptop. I have done a search on Amazon and found 2 firewires for sale - one 6 pin to 4 pin and the other is 4 pin to 4 pin. Please could someone tell me how to determine which is the one I am looking for.
