i had placed a posting some time back about a mortgage that i have with Ulster bank and their inability to give me an annual statement or any notification of interest rate changes. i had contacted them numerous times and they said it was down to a wrong address on their file. in the end i had to send a letter of complaint to the financial services ombudsman. he told me to put my complaint in writing and he gave me the contact details of someone in ulster bank and she would deal with it - kind of like an internal complaints department. well as soon as i did this i got three identical statements within a week and letter of apology from ulster bank, which basically said that as i had received no notification of the interest rate changes they could change me to a tracker mortgage with a better interest rate and refund €1,500 to my mortgage account!! also i got two bottles of wine as an apology a week later!! not as annoyed with them as i was.
