Ulster Bank/First Active : 0.25% variable rate reduction

Typical. I already have the wheels in motion to move from First Active.

Typical is right! i work there and I didnt even hear that piece of news

Bizarre practice. They're encouraging their customers to switch to another lender by doing this. So all they'll be left with will be the ones who can't switch as they're in negative equity or close to it.

You will probably find that it will be harder to move around between lenders. Obviously the current economic conditions have placed the "rate tarts" as they are apparently referred to as at a disadvantage.
If you move mortgage now to a new lender , won't they be suspicious about your motives, (rates aside).? Will the equity on your home be seriously devalued since the good old days? You'll be forced to revalue your home to avail of any new mortgage elsewhere, will will naturally right down values across the board.

That's the second time First Active have only passed on half of the rate cut. Does anyone know approximately what the costs are for moving lenders and if any lenders are still offering deals to move your mortgage?

I'd move mine straight away but I also have my house up for sale at the moment so moving the mortgage before it sells would mean more legal fees so am kind of stuck.

BOI and Halifax paying 1k towards legal fees. (AIB also paying upto 1200 if you are a banking customer already) .

Forgot to say that BOI will only pay on direct applications (not via brokers).

Can you point me in the right direction on AIB website which shows the contribution towards legal fees! thank you.
