I am looking at investing in a bond with ulsterbank I was thinking of putting in 30k it is a 6 year investment with capital gaurnteed if you stay in for the full term. They have performed well in the past and I know this is no indecation of how it will go in the furture. There is an annual charge of 1.75% for managing the fund is this very high? that is the only charge that I can see

sorry for the delay in repling but it is a evergreen fund operated by new ireland and I was wondering if 1.75% is a high charge for this sort of fund ulster bank invesment officer is advising me on it

Presumably s/he is a tied agent? If so then you should remember that tied agents are basically sales people so don't depend on them for independent, professional advice. For that you'll need to talk to a good authorised advisor or multi-agency intermediary. You need to assess your overall financial/personal situation first and only then look for savings/investment products that might match your specific short, medium and long term needs. Don't do it the other way around.

You can buy any of these New Ireland products on an execution only basis through one of the discount brokers such as ferga.com. The charges will be a lot lower, but you won't get advice.
