My mistake - it should have read:Although I'm not too impressed by HMRC;s estimate of when I should receive a reply to my March 2023 NI contributions query:
You should have received a reply by
6 May 1965

My form was received mid march 2023 and has been status ‘ in progress’ ever since . I’m expecting reply early in New YearView attachment 8199
I'm guessing the Status will eventually change from 'Received' to 'In progress' when they actively start working on it. Still I'm glad to know they definitely received it as A Post never confirmed delivery despite the fact that I paid for tracking.
It can take 3 -4 months for the payment allocation process to be completed but you can ring the National Insurance line on 0044 191 2037010 and they can confirm receipt of your payment fairly quickly. The allocation process though is another ballgame.A big thank you to the ones who highlighted this option. I have been advised I can buy back at class 2. I decided to buy 4 years to start and wonder how long it takes to go on your record as you do not get any confirmation that it has been received.
Yes. I qualified for Class 3 contributions on this basis.I didn't have the 3 years continuous work in uk to qualify on that basis. However they sent me back a reply saying I think that I could use work in EU country as a basis to qualify. They required proof of work in that country. So I sent my prsi record last march or thereabouts but have heard nothing since.
Has anyone else successfully used prsi record to make up the 3 years continuous work condition?
Thanks for that, can you explain how it works. For example if you had 2 years contributions in uk do they take 1 year's prsi contribution to qualify for the 3 year's minimum requirement?Yes. I qualified for Class 3 contributions on this basis.
From what I read in this thread they are horribly delayed in replying to all correspondence.
Working immediately before you leave the UK is a qualifying requirement to pay NICs at class 2 rates. Do you mean turned down for class 2 rates or refused entirely the option to pay additional NICs?Hi
I sent CF83 form March 2023 but just got turned down letter as they say I was not an ordinarily employed immediately before leaving uk .However dates show I worked on a Friday and left uk that weekend 1997 Sunday.
Rang the but the person couldn't answer what is an ordinarily employed Worked in UK April 87 to May 97 and have 6yrs on uk Pension Forcast. Unsure why not 10 yrs on forecast. I have work in Ireland since. Took about 3 months to get job when I first can back so signed o Irish dole for these 3 months in 97. Anyone know what ordinarily employed is before I reply to HMRC and send new CF83 form with loads of paperwork to back my records Also any advise would be welcome.

it seems odd that you don’t have at least 10 years on your record. A lot of posters here have reported more years than they actually worked in the UK, for various reasons. Did you get a NI number as soon as you began working in the UK and were you paying NICs up until the Friday that you left?
The DWP operates a telephone helpline staffed with helpful and informed people. I’d suggest calling them first and as early in the morning as possible to try to avoid congested phone lines. Such a conversation might inform you how best to submit your response.
YesAppeal the class 2 assessment; make sure you are crystal clear on your dates and that everything lines up. Include copies of all your supporting paperwork.
Even at class 3 its still a good deal.
Yes it does. Lots of posts here on setting that up.if the biometric passport for Gateway actually works
Be persistent with the online access to Govt Gateway. I think it took about 8 attempts on my part before I had success. Getting it makes it so much easier to enquire on your record.Yes
Preparing appeal at present, takes so long for reply from HMRC due to backlog, going online would be great here. Anyone know if the biometric passport for Gateway actually works. Have set up account but can't get past the verification ID bit. Only uk passport, driving licence, recent p60 available options
