Hi,
I have been approved to pay class 2 contributions. I wish to do this by post, what information do I have to include with the draft ? There is talk of an 18 digit code ? I would appreciate any help as I want to make the deadline of April 5th. Many Thanks

See https://www.gov.uk/pay-class-2-national-insurance/make-online-telephone-bank-transfer
"If you either live abroad or live in the UK but are paying for a period when you worked abroad, you need to use a different reference number.
Use your National Insurance number followed by ‘IC’, your surname then your initial.
If your bank limits you to a certain number of characters, you should use your National Insurance number followed by ‘IC’ and as much of your surname as possible.
Examples
If your name is Anne Jones and your National Insurance number is QQ123456A, you’d write the reference as QQ123456AICJONESA
If your name is John Douglas-Hamilton and your National Insurance number is QQ123456A, you’d write the reference as QQ123456AICDOUGLAS-HAMILTONJ"

Your "18 digit code" may not have 18 digits

Thank you, so if I am sending a sterling draft by post I don't need the 18 digits code ? Just put my NI number on the back of the draft and make it payable to HM Revenue and customs only ? Is that correct.

I just prefer doing things by post, I'm not great with online payments. Does anyone know the right address to send it to ?

You're making things more convulted doing this.

If you have to go into bank to get a sterling draft, you might as easily ask them to do the online transfer payment for you.

It can take them months to open and process mailed items.

Who's to say they won't return a draft to someone that they only opened after the deadline saying payment received too late, despite date on draft or postmark.

NB - I'm not saying that would happen, I don't know is the reality. If I were you I would be ensuring payment is made by electronic means so as to ensure its received before April 5th.

Thank you for your advice, I never thought about the post not being opened. Does anyone have the account details to pay it electronically ? I am afraid of sending it to the wrong account. Many Thanks

Check posts no. #3 and #4 in the below thread.

There is hardly a question that hasn't been answered on this forum already.

Is this the account ?

Just heard today that both Bank of Ireland and AIB no longer do sterling drafts, so that's that question answered, electronically all the way
