I am currently on 3, and your inclusive monthly minutes let you call all UK and Ireland landlines/mobiles ie calling the UK is the same price as calling Ireland.
Does anyone know if any UK operators operate something similar? All that I can see seem to charge calls to Ireland at standard international rate i.e. ripoff. I'm doing the research for my mother as she is in the North and her children are in the South!
Hi
I used O2 Pay as you go when in the UK last year, could call Irish landlines for the standard rate (10p per minute, I think, or maybe less). You had to apply for this rate however, and pay a monthly fee (fairly reasonable). The same did not apply for mobile numbers.
Would she consider Skype?
Nicola
Insofar as I know crumble, you are right. Roaming and international dialling seems much more prominently dealt with on the Irish mobile sites, much easier to find a useful tarriff this side of the border. Have you investigated whether something like Skype might be useful?
Just been browsing the OfCom site and it is pretty useless, particularly in comparison to the askcomreg site for here!
Cheers Crunchie, will check that out..
Nicola - she uses Skype in the house a lot, was checking out the Skype phones from 3UK, but most handsets have a pretty poor rep unfortunately..
I'll have a look at Ofcom - and I suspect it wouldnt be hard for it to be more useful than our own regulator!!
