UK Debt

Looking for a little advice as I've hit a wall.

Basic back ground. There is a disputed laon between myself and a UK bank, Going back years. They handed the debt to a debt collection agaency. Who I in turn wrote to requestion a CCA (Consumer Credit agreement) Under UK law they have 12 days in which to reply with the above mentioned form. They didn't, and there for under UK law the bank are not entitled to chase me for any money.

I then recived a Ordinary Civil Bill here in Ireland, from and Irish solicitors acting on behalf of the bank.

Now, I know my UK status, as have had some exelent advice from the consumer forums over there, but I am confused as to how a debt covered under UK law, with a UK company has been able to be presented in a court here in Ireland.

As I mentioned, the bank are in default under UK law. But I'm curios as to how it ended up in the Irish system. Under UK law they would not be able to issue me with and Ordany Civil bill, so how can they do this over here.

Thanks you in advance,

I think they are now trying it on. How did they find you in Ireland?

You will need to hire a good solicitor that specialises in debt. At the same time you need to ask about any conflict of interests as such solicitors often work as agents for the big boys based in Dublin.

Thanks a million for the reply.

They had my address from the DCA. As I requested the CCA.

How would I find a solicitor that would help. I've googled, and as you mentioed they all come up with how the have a debt collect department, rather than helping to fight debt issues..???

Thanks again,

A very helpfull company though.

They couldn't understand why a debt which was in dispute in the UK has ended up here. He said that he thinks they are clutching at staws and chancing an arm.

He also pointed out that the debt on the bill is for a sum in Euros. But the debt is a sterling Debt, and there for a Euro debt does not exist.

I'm speaking with the solicitrs who issued the bill tomorrow, to ask why they have proceeded with the bill when HSBC are in defalt in the UK under UK laws. I'll keep you posted as to what the out come is.

It good to hear you have found a solicitor willing to take on the big boys.

Do you mind telling me by PM who the solicitors for the bank are? Does it begin with a C and have a K in the middle?
