I'm in the same boat but I got mortgage approval and have gone to sale agreed on a house but a UK credit report is a condition of loan approval as I lived there for a few years. I have applied for a report from Experian UK ltd by post, the cost is £2. I followed up with an email a week later and they replied within a few hours asking for proof of my current address, my last address in the UK (had to provide 2 utility bills for each address) and a copy of my passport. I have now supplied all this so I am now waiting for them to respond. However a friend of mine had to get the same thing for a mortgage last year and had a total nightmare as Experian could not find a record of her having lived in the UK. The company have no phone service so she had to conduct everything via snail mail. In the end after delaying her house purchase by weeks she got her UK bank to send over a customer status enquiry report to her lender, which is basically a report to say she is a customer in good standing. This is something the lender has to apply to the bank directly for though. I am currently waiting to see if my lender will remove the experian credit report condition from my mortgage approval and accept a customer status report instead. Whatever you do get this issue sorted before you starting bidding on any properties as it has been incredibly stressful process for me and may result in my vendors pulling out if it drags on much longer. I have not heard of anyone else actually getting a UK credit report if they no longer living there. Best of luck and I'd love to hear how you get on.
