This sort of covers a few areas & wasn't really sure where to put it....

Has anyone here signed up for UBER as a driver or passenger?
If driver
  • what do you have to declare for insurance purposes?
  • tax... can you deduct insurance premiums/tax/depreciation (or a percentage of same)
  • tax (again)... how do you pay tax? self assessment form?

if passenger
  • have you used it?
  • does it work for you?
  • why would you choose uber over a regular taxi? (or otherwise)

I'm neither but on the insurance front, you would need to be taking out PSV or taxi insurance. Anyone that alleges anything else to you would be misleading you unfairly.

I've used Uber and Hailo as a passenger, and rarely get a taxi any other way now. Multiple reasons - record of driver details, no cash needed, record of history of journeys.

My new favourite thing about it is, sending the babysitter home in one (thanks mum!) - its automatically paid out of my account; no arguing over who pays; and i even get an email to say she was dropped off at a certain location ... in case she takes a sneaky trip to Leeson St (joke!)

its fab
