What the average holiday entitlement in the IT sector? 25 days per year?

The minimum holiday entitlement by law is 20 days, and my experience of the IT sector is that a lot of people get 20 days, and maybe get a week at
christmas without having to take them out of the 20 days.

My workplace gives 20 statutory days per year, 9 bank holidays and thats it...

Unfortunately I only get 21 days a year (I could do with a lot more though!!).

From speaking to my contemporaries though, it seems that the public sector win hands down regarding holidays with many of them getting up to 28 days holidays, plus concession days along with having flexi time (can work up an extra day off every 4 weeks),,,, why oh why didn’t I take my Dads advice years ago and go for a job In the council!!!

Just to note also that that while people working in the public service are better off regarding holidays, they also seem to be better off with regards to salary, with many of them being paid on par or above similar roles in the private sector.

As a civic servant I will start boasting that we get 1 1/2 days every four weeks if we 'work up' our flexi time plus 20 days and 2 'privilege days' before bank holidays!

Yep, you should have listened to Dad. I get 30 days per annum (AP level post in a Govt agency) plus up to 1.5 days per month flexi-leave (if I've worked up the necessary hours, of course).

Not every place in the public sector allow working up time though unfortunately! I joined to take advatage of their good leave system only to find myself sent to a section that does not grant it! I get 20 days plus 2 privilege days.
